Phil Robertson Is Ruffling Liberal Feathers Once Again With This Announcement

February 18, 2015 6:29 pm The patriarch of the "Duck Dynasty" clan, Phil Robertson, is well-known for his outspoken, Christian Conservative views. On many occasions his unapologetic candor has outraged many on the left side of the political aisle. Propelled by their rabid indignation, many progressive liberals once swarmed together in an attempt to silence Phil and condemn him for what they perceived as "hate" speech. In December 2013, Robertson was suspended from the enormously popular A&E show, Duck Dynasty , after remarks he made in a GQ interview, which reflected his core Christian beliefs about homosexuality. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) organization took particular offense at his comments , raised the alarm in the LGBT support community, and managed to get Phil suspended from the show. "It seems like, to me, a vagina-as a man-would be more desirable than a man's anus. That's just me. I'm just thinking: There's more there! She's got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I'm saying? But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical," Phil said. "We're Bible-thumpers who just happened to end up on television," he told GQ. "You put in your article that the Robertson family really believes strongly that if the human race loved each other and they loved God, we would just be better off. We ought to just be repentant, turn to God, and let's get on with it, and everything will turn around." ... "Everything is blurred on what's right and what's wrong," he said. "Sin becomes fine." GLAAD's "victory" was short-lived, however, after millions of Americans stood up in Phil's defense of free speech and the rest of the Robertson family banded together in support of him, saying they would not continue filming without him. To the extreme chagrin of his critics, A&E reinstated Robertson, just over a week after his suspension. Phil's steadfastness in speaking his mind with no filter has earned him much admiration from defenders of the First Amendment right to freedom of speech. Later this month, according to Breitbart News , Robertson will be the second recipient of a prestigious award given in recognition of his unwavering commitment to vocalizing his convictions regardless of so-called political correctness. The "Andrew Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment Award" will be presented to Phil Roberston in the main ballroom at the 2015 Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, MD on Friday, February 27th at 12:40 p.m. At last year's CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference), conservative talk radio host Mark Levin accepted the inaugural award before a standing-room only audience saying, "The symptoms of tyranny, such as these brazen attacks on free speech, have threatened republics throughout time. We must speak out." The award is a high honor, given by Citizens United in the name of Andrew Breitbart , a fearless conservative activist and widely respected online media giant, who died unexpectedly in 2012. "In a time where conservative Christians are under attack by the media and pop culture, Phil Robertson continues to courageously stand by Truth and his convictions," said David N. Bossie, President of Citizens United, in a release. "I can think of no better person to present the 'Andrew Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment Award' to than Mr. Phil Robertson." Amen!
