A MAN was "completely wired" and already on two sets of bail conditions, when he drove a stolen ute along a busy Carlton North footpath as pedestrians scrambled out of his way. Idris Hassan - who crashed through tables outside Paragon Caf'e in Rathdowne St, before performing a U-turn and smashing into the caf'e's window - later described his behaviour as "so bizarre".Two women sitting just inside the caf'e were injured. Defence counsel Dermot Dann said the unlicensed 27-year-old suffered from schizophrenia and had consumed the drug ice, alcohol and prescription medication in the lead-up to the offending on June 28, last year. CCTV shown during a pre-sentence hearing at the County Court shows pedestrians scattering to avoid the vehicle, with one fleeing woman having to change direction to narrowly dodge the ute as it returned.
